Grivel began as a blacksmith’s workshop in Courmayeur, at the foot of the mountain.
The first essential tool was the ice axe.
Used by local guides, it became the foundation of alpinism. Refined in balance and geometry through use on steep terrain.
In 1909, a chance meeting between British alpinist Oscar Eckenstein and Henri Grivel changed the course of mountaineering.
The crampon was born.
The mountain opened.
Precision met purpose, and traction was redefined.
Today, the mountain remains the same, but encountered with increasing speed, exposure, and consequence.
Grivel provides trust when there is no margin.
